For this months ‘Meet The Team’ feature, we’re introducing Marta – our fabulous Junior Account Manager! Get to know more about her below..

How long have you been at Prohibition? It’ll be one year on January 2nd!

What do you love most about your job? The team at Prohibition is brilliant – everyone’s dedicated, hard-working and lots of fun. The best banter happens when you least expect it!

Tell us a bit about your journey to working at Prohibition. After finishing my comms degree back in Lisbon, Portugal, I decided to do my masters in PR at Leeds Beckett University in 2015. Before joining Prohibition in 2020, I spent some time doing work experience and then working at a local PR agency for three years. Prohibitions work is incredible and the agency’s reputation in the industry is great, which us why I decided to take the plunge at the end of 2019.

What’s your top tip for someone looking to get into the PR industry? Make meaningful connections on LinkedIn – that’s how I found all my PR jobs to date!

What’s your favourite social media platform and why? I’ve been trying to spend less time on social media (shocking, I know) as this is already a huge part of my daily life with work. If I had to choose, I’d say Instagram. It’s where all my good friends are, where I find less “spammy” content, and it’s where I find all the dog/goat content I need.

What do you love most about working/living up North? I’m still not used to the cold and grey weather; HOWEVER, I love the countryside, long walks in the forest, and the friendly Northerners.

What three things could you not live without? My morning coffee, exercising, and talking to my family on a daily basis (even if virtually)!

Give us your favourite quote. From the famous Portuguese author Fernando Pessoa –

“The value of things is not the time they last, but the intensity with which they occur. That’s why there are unforgettable moments, inexplicable things and incomparable people.”

If you could switch places with any celeb for the day – who would it be and why? Probably an Olympic athlete – I find them so inspiring and they make it all seem so easy!

What’s something you’re secretly (or not so secretly!) really good at/passionate about outside of work? I love to work out and before the pandemic hit, I used to “live” at the gym! Now, not so much… but I still stick to my daily runs or high intensity workouts. There’s something really empowering about overcoming personal challenges and pushing yourself to your limits.
