In the ever-evolving world of social media marketing, staying ahead of the curve means embracing new tools and strategies. From Meta’s expanded AI-powered Advantage suite, to TikTok’s revamped Academy and automated Smart+ targeting, platforms are rolling out innovations designed to make advertising more effective. LinkedIn and X are also introducing features to streamline campaign set-up for marketers. Here’s the latest ads updates to be aware of.
Meta shares new AI Ad Suite insights
For those unfamiliar or new to advertising on Meta, it has its own AI tool called “Advantage” which can be used throughout every stage of setting up a campaign within Meta’s Ads Manager. To help its advertisers gain a better understanding, Meta has shared an overview of what each of the Advantage tools do, from budget optimisations to creative enhancements – definitely worth a read if you are new to using AI when setting up campaigns.
New AI enhancement tool coming to Meta
Keeping on the topic of AI and Meta’s Advantage tools, a new tool has been introduced to its creative arsenal. AI image enhancement and expansion has already been added to Advantage+ Creative and is often put in front of us advertisers when building a campaign.
A new tool has been revealed that will use Meta’s AI technology to animate static assets as well as expand video formats so the content will appear better on different placements. This is great for marketers who are wanting to test different formats/placements and trial animated content in their campaign without having to create a new asset.
A new look to the TikTok Academy
TikTok has launched an updated version of the TikTok Academy, filled with new and updated courses following the changes to the platform and algorithm since it originally launched back in 2022. If anyone is new to advertising on TikTok, its highly recommend to spend some time familiarising themselves with the academy as there are plenty of courses to help upskill you on the ways of TikTok advertising – plus it is all free so a win win.
New automated targeting option added to TikTok (Smart+)
TikTok has joined the other social media platforms by implementing an AI targeting system, Smart+, to its ads platform. Smart+ campaigns work similarly to how Meta’s Advantage+ works, automating the process of building a campaign and reaching the right target audience through AI learning. At the moment, the tool is available to use for traffic, sales, app download and lead generation campaigns.
LinkedIn reveals it has seen record engagement in Q3
LinkedIn reveals it has seen record engagement in the past quarter. A slightly different update to what we usually share in this blog, but we thought it was worth including for any B2B marketers that currently aren’t promoting on LinkedIn. The targeting available on LinkedIn is unrivalled in the B2B space, being able to target by job titles, seniorities, company industries and even company names. With the platform continuing to grow and have record quarters, it’s definitely worth taking a look into the platform.
New lead gen ad metric now available for boosted posts
Following its updates to boosting from previous months, LinkedIn has now introduced the option to boost organic posts for leads. Previously, the only options that would appear when boosting through a company’s page would be impressions or engagements, this new addition gives marketers a new way to generate leads through existing content.
X updates its ads manager to help SMBs
For those still advertising on X, it has updated its ads platform to raise appeal for SMBs to advertise. Through introductions of more AI tools such as AI targeting and bidding optimisation, X is hoping to drive more SMBs to advertise on the channel. However, with the rise of BlueSky, it is likely more and more users are going to be moving away from X.
