For our May meet the team feature, get to know all about our funny and fabulous Account Executive, Tamika!

How long have you been at Prohibition? I’ve been a part of the team for 6 months now and they have absolutely flown by!

What do you love most about your job? There are so many aspects that I love about my job, especially the wide variety of clients I get to work with on a daily basis. However, the most important one for me has always been the environment, you can’t love your job if you don’t love the people you do it with. The team at Prohibition are a joy to work with, you’re never bored.

Tell us a bit about your journey to working at Prohibition. I moved to Leeds from Ireland in 2016 to study Journalism at Leeds Trinity University. I graduated in 2019 and took my first job as an Account Executive with an agency that same summer. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit and I was unfortunately made redundant from that job at the end of July 2020.  But, after two and bit months of stressing and searching I finally found the perfect fit. I applied, interviewed and got offered the job here at Prohibition. It has been a silver lining in quite a stressful time and I’ve never been more grateful to be in the position I am.

What’s your top tip for someone looking to get into the PR industry? From personal experience it would be to always say yes. Be as eager and willing to learn as you can be and volunteer for anything you have the capacity to.

What’s your favourite social media platform and why? It has to be Instagram! It allows me to keep up to date with the lives of my friends and family back in Ireland. I can also search #dog at any given point in the day and be inundated with the cutest pictures ever.

What do you love most about working/living up North? Yorkshire reminds me so much of home, the green fields, the endless cups of tea, the friendly and talkative people and not forgetting the love for a good pint! It’s a home away from home.

What three things could you not live without? My family, my dog, Odie and cinnamon swirls (they’re just so yum).

Give us your favourite quote. “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

— Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

If you could switch places with any celeb for the day – who would it be and why? I think it would have to be Emma Watson – I mean who doesn’t want to be known for playing Hermione Granger and Princess Belle?

What’s something you’re secretly (or not so secretly!) really good at/passionate about outside of work? I absolutely love musical theatre, I studied it in my late teens and performed in a few shows like Mama Mia! and Hairspray. I’ve not performed since I moved to Leeds but it’s still something I’m very passionate about and enjoy watching. I’m also partial to a good book.
