We’re back this month with another meet the team! For October, get to know all about our Videographer and Production Manager, Andy.
How long have you been at Prohibition? I’ve been at Prohibition for 6 months – still pretty new!
What do you love most about your job? I love the variety of work and clients that I get to work on. I like to create things and really enjoy getting stuck into projects with the clients and team. The team here at Prohibition are so good and between us we come up with some really fun, creative briefs.
Tell us a bit about your journey to working at Prohibition. How long have you got? I’m old and have been around the block a few times! I’ve been working in all things TV/media production for the best part of 14 years. I’ve worked on all things from soap operas, to documentaries, to adverts, to online promos for sports teams & events videos for corporate brands nationally & internationally. You name it, I’ve probably done a bit of it! I genuinely love it… I like the whole production process and feel lucky to have been able to work in this industry for so long, and long may it continue! The opportunities at Prohibition to work on some big brands is another exciting chapter.
What’s your top tip for someone looking to get into the PR industry? Obviously I’m not a PR expert, but I think industry wide the principles are the same. I got my first job at ITV by showing I was willing to learn and from being inquisitive. What started with a two week placement turned into a full time contract, and that was down to showing passion for the subject and getting on well with my peers. Be nice, be helpful and make yourself indispensable.
What’s your favourite social media platform and why? I probably should say YouTube, but to be honest I use that more as a learning platform than anything else. I do enjoy Instagram a lot. I like videos and photos…it’s the one for me!
What do you love most about working/living up North? Leeds is the greatest city in the world. Need I say more? Us Yorkshire folk love it here and won’t have anything bad said about it. There is nothing else you could possibly need that you can’t find here.
What three things could you not live without? My family (cliché) – everything I do is for my wife and kids. They’re idiots, but they’re my idiots, every day is so much fun with them!
Leeds United – my obsession.
Beer. It enhances most things. It makes a rubbish event great, and a great event epic.
Give us your favourite quote.
Side before self.
If you could switch places with any celeb for the day – who would it be and why? Probably Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys/Last Shadow Puppets. I think he’s probably the coolest man on the planet.
What’s something you’re secretly (or not so secretly!) really good at/passionate about outside of work?
I’m big into my music and used to play drums in a band. I’ve recently moved house and got the kit out of the loft and into the mancave – only problem is that every time I try and play now the kids try to get involved.
