OOH advertising that gets seen on the street and shared online
Updated October 2026.
Prohibition is an out-of-home (OOH) advertising agency in Leeds. We design and plan billboards, transport, retail and digital screen campaigns, and join them up with PR and social so one poster becomes a bigger story. For C4 Energy, the US pre-workout brand launching in the UK, our creative ran on the London Underground, at WHSmith London Victoria and on digital screens in PureGym sites across the country.

What is out-of-home advertising?
Out-of-home advertising is any advert people see outside their homes: billboards, bus and rail sites, street furniture, shopping centres, gyms, airports and digital screens. It is one of the few channels people cannot skip or block, and digital OOH can change by time of day or location.
Why use OOH advertising?
OOH builds fame and trust fast, puts your brand where people shop, travel and work out, and gives PR and social something to point at.
It builds awareness
Big, simple creative in busy places puts your brand in front of large audiences again and again.
It reaches people near the point of purchase
Retail and station sites catch people close to where they buy. C4’s WHSmith London Victoria creative ran alongside its retail launch.
It works harder with PR and social
A striking OOH execution gets photographed, posted and written about, so it reaches far beyond the people who walk past.

Why choose Prohibition for OOH advertising?

Creative, media and PR under one roof
We worked with C4 Energy to launch it into the UK market, combining OOH, digital ads and social. Our C4 creative ran on the London Underground and at WHSmith London Victoria, alongside digital ads in PureGym sites across the country. Because creative, paid advertising, TV advertising and PR sit in one team, your OOH works with everything else you run.

What is the marketing function of advertising?
Has the OOH industry grown in recent years?
One of the most significant advancements in technology that has impacted the OOH industry is digital signage. Digital billboards and displays have become increasingly popular, allowing advertisers to create dynamic, eye-catching ads that can be updated remotely and in real-time.
Additionally, the globalization of the advertising industry has opened up new opportunities for out-of-home advertising. As more companies expand their operations globally, they are looking for ways to reach audiences in new markets.
Finally, advertisers are increasingly looking for ways to reach consumers in specific demographics and locations. Outdoor advertising offers a unique opportunity to do this, as it can be targeted to specific neighborhoods, cities, or regions.
Where can you find out-of-home advertising?
Unlike TV or radio ads that can be tuned out or skipped, out-of-home ads are right in front of you as you go about your day – making them a driving force for bringing in new business and reaching a large audience quickly.
Can we help with OOH planning?
We’ll help you to decide where your ads will be displayed based on your audience and budget!
How do we measure out-of-home advertising?
Attribution: Tracks how people interact with your ad across multiple channels. For example, if someone sees your billboard and then visits your website later that day, attribution would track that interaction and give you a better sense of how effective the ad was.
Impressions: This is the most basic measurement for out-of-home ads, and it simply refers to the number of people who potentially see the ad. Impressions can be calculated based on factors such as traffic volume, foot traffic, and the size of the ad itself.
GRPs (Gross Rating Points): GRPs take into account both the reach (the number of people who see the ad) and frequency (how often they see it) of an ad campaign.
The “typical” measurement for OOH ads really depends on the specific goals and objectives of each campaign. We may use a combination of these metrics to get a more complete picture of the effectiveness of your campaigns.
