Crisis Management Training

Crisis management training that prepares your team before it happens

Updated October 2026.

Prohibition runs crisis management training for comms, marketing and leadership teams. We help you spot risks early, build a crisis plan and playbook, and practise handling the press and social media under pressure. Our founder Chris Norton wrote the CIPR’s guidance on social media crisis management, and we have helped Interflora, Stonebridge Homes and Exemplar Health Care prepare for and handle difficult moments.

How does our crisis training work?

We start with a planning session with your key people to map the risks. Then we build a bespoke crisis plan and run hands-on training and scenario exercises, in person or online, so your team knows exactly who does what when something goes wrong.

Why does crisis management training matter?

A complaint, a bad review or a news story can spread across social media in hours. Teams that have practised respond faster and more calmly, protect trust and recover sooner. Without a plan, a crisis can cost you customers, followers, investment and staff confidence.

Who is the training for?

In-house comms, marketing, customer service and social media teams, plus the leaders and spokespeople who would front a response. We run group workshops so everyone knows their role.

What will your team be able to do?

  • Spot a potential crisis early
  • Put a crisis plan into action
  • Write holding statements quickly
  • Handle press enquiries and interviews
  • Manage negative comments across social channels
  • Keep the business running while it is handled

Free crisis and comms events

We also run free webinars and events on handling communication across channels, with many available on demand.

Our crisis management work

Stonebridge Homes

We monitored for negative comments and advised how to respond, trained the marketing and sales team, and wrote a social media crisis playbook for its crisis manual.

Interflora

Every Mother’s Day a national title searched social media for customer complaints and ran them as a double-page spread. We trained Interflora’s in-house team and advised them to fight fire with positivity.

Exemplar Health Care

After an audit we built a crisis process and plan, drafted press-ready statements and continue to monitor local, regional and trade press for emerging issues.

Why choose Prohibition for crisis training?

What is crisis management?

Crisis management refers to the process of identifying, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a crisis situation that could negatively impact an individual, organisation, or community.

What’s a crisis management plan?

A crisis management plan is a detailed document that outlines the necessary actions to be taken during critical situations or crisis. A crisis can refer to any unexpected events that pose harm to an organisation and create fear and insecurity. Therefore, it is essential for organisations to have a crisis management plan in place.

When might a crisis occur?

A PR crisis can occur at any time when negative events or reviews threaten a company’s brand reputation. Such events can range from product recalls, employee misconduct, lawsuits, or negative social media attention.

A strong and immediate response is crucial to limit the damage to your brand’s reputation.

What other training do we offer?

We offer a wide range of training services, including media training to brace the media for those all-important and scary questions, communications training to get the right messages out about your company, and social media training to master a strategy that delivers heightened engagement.
