It’s been a turbulent few weeks for the world of social media, with Twitter taking the top spot for chaos… We’ve been awaiting the confirmation on Instagram’s native scheduling function (spoiler alert: it’s coming!). Take a look at our latest social media updates round-up below to keep you up to date.

Instagram confirms native scheduling and expands audio function

Instagram has confirmed that native scheduling within the app is coming in the next few months – users will be able to schedule posts for up to 75 days in advance. This really is good news for content creators, influencers and social media management teams, as users will be able to schedule reels rather than the manual posting that has been required since the video/reel change.

Instagram also extended their native music/audio function to static posts. Originally only available on reels, users can now add trending audio to an array of posts without having to consider copyright legalities (this doesn’t currently seem to be available on carousel video posts however).

Facebook adds a new group option

After Facebook’s recent group updates, the platform has added a new group option which enables group members to make themselves moderators. The reaction has been largely neutral/negative, as it may cause confusion and issues for groups and communities. Time will tell whether this update will stay permanently!

Twitter faces chaos over its blue tick function

Since Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, there’s been ‘blue tick chaos’ on the channel – recently some pages belonging to high-profile accounts were marked with a new grey ‘official’ tick. This was intended to signify that the accounts were authentic, when in fact they were parody accounts.

Most notably, a fake Eli Lilly (pharmaceutical giant) account with the grey tick tweeted that ‘insulin is free now’ – instantly dropping their stock prices by 11.4%! Twitter seems to be amending this issue – but not before it already went viral.

TikTok releases new text-to-speech voice

Sick of the standard TikTok text-to-speech voice? We have great news, TikTok have released another version of the text-to-speech voice, enabling users to choose either the ‘Deep’ voice or the classic ‘Jessie.

There are also a range of other voice effects available on the app through their new Audio Editing function, enabling users to choose a voice filter in the editing stage of the video upload.

LinkedIn cracks down on fake accounts

LinkedIn have been cracking down on fake accounts to help users work out if a profile is genuine or not. The new ‘About this profile’ feature shows when the account was created, along with whether the user has verified contact details on the app.

This should help with ensuring connections are genuine and protect users from increasingly common scams selling fake counterfeit goods, and monetary scams.
